Common Questions:
Who Owns the Books (and the Material in Them)?
You’ll hold the copyright on the books, meaning that you own all of the content, including everything created by the Forward Fiction team. Want to “steal” ideas from the books to use elsewhere in other media? No problem! It all belongs to you.
What if We Don’t Like the Books You Create?
You’ll have several opportunities during the development, outlining, and writing process to review and approve all materials to ensure we’re going in the right direction. If what we’re doing doesn’t earn your approval, we’ll work with you to adjust and revise our work until you give us the greenlight to start moving forward again.
You’ll also get to review and approve the cover art and marketing materials. In short, nothing will ever be released to the public without your prior approval and full satisfaction.
Exactly What is in the Partnership Contract?
The licensing agreement provides Forward Fiction with exclusive worldwide English-language book publication rights (including print, digital, and audio) to produce and sell novels based on your IP, including all characters, settings, and storylines.
Typically, the licensing agreement is for a 10-year term, with triggers in place to ensure Forward Fiction is meeting specific production and sales metrics or else all rights revert to the IP owner.
How Much Do You Pay in Royalties?
You’ll earn a percentage of net revenue on all book sales. The exact financial terms of each contract is determined by our market research into your IP and its existing audience.
How Long Does It Take to Develop, Write, and Publish a Novel?
On average, 12 months (including six months of pre-launch marketing and pre-orders).
